Bridge the Gap
Bridge the Gap is a breakfast and after school club based at Howbridge Infant School for children aged between 4 & 11.
The main purpose of the club is to provide a safe, friendly and secure environment for children to attend while their parents are
at work or simply to just socialise during out of school hours. During this time a number of activities are offered to children to participate in.
These include messy play, arts and crafts, baking, and outdoor games.
Howbridge Infant School and offer provision for children who attend our school as well as other schools in the surrounding area. A member of our staff is able to pick up and drop off children from Howbridge Junior School and Holy Family School.
The club is run by staff who are employed by the school so are usually already familiar with the children in our care. Parents are required to complete a registration form which contains information that we are legally obliged to retain. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure that this is kept up to date should there be any changes in personal circumstances. Information is always kept strictly confidential.

Children that attend the early sessions at Bridge the Gap are given the option to have breakfast. Children are offered something to drink and can choose from a variety of cereals or toast with a choice of spreads. Every morning there are different activities for children to choose from. These activities could include: art and crafts, colouring and activity sheets, tennis, group games, skipping, speed stacking, friendship building activities and more. Children are also able to free play and choose toys from the club cupboard.
After School Club
Children that attend the after school club will be greeted and signed in before they hang their belongings on the pegs. The children then have time to read books and socialise before their snack. The snack menu works on a four week rotation and we try to change the menu frequently to offer children a wide choice. Once staff have prepared snacks all the children wash their hands and sit together. After snack it’s time for the activities. Every day we have different activities planned for the children. We do lots of arts and crafts and we all enjoy cooking and messy play. Outdoor games are another favourite and we try to get outside as much as possible, weather permitting. The children also have time for free play and time to make up their own games in the hall.
