We will practise writing extended sentences about given fairytale themed pictures. The children will be encouraged to write independently, using all of the tools we have been learning in Year 1, in preparation for Year 2.

In phonics, we will be learning the following sounds:

a /or/ as in water

a /o/ as in want

ear, ere /air/ as in bear, there

The tricky words we will focus on this week will be:

who    whole     because    eye    people   thought   through

Can your child read and write these words?

Reminders

Non uniform day Monday 6th July – please bring in a bottle (e.g. squash, pop, toiletries – not alcohol.) However if you have anything you’d like to donate to the prize stall at the summer fayre that would be fantastic too.

Summer Fayre – Friday 10th July – 2pm – 4pm a letter regarding this will be coming out soon.

We are always grateful for any parent who can offer help at the stalls even for just some of the time, we are hoping to have a meeting to organise this asap. If you think you will be available please let Mrs Taylor or the office know. Thank you.

We will be continuing to learn about time. We will be solving practical problems  to explore the concepts of o’clock and half past.

Topic

In Science we will be completing our work about seasonal changes and learning about the season of summer and  comparing this to the other seasons.

In history we will be starting to learn about Queen Victoria.

In art we will be making a sun collage in the style of Gaudi.

In mindfulness we will be exploring resilience. We will be learning through a story and games that it’s important to never give up and to always try our best. It is not the winning that counts but the effort and determination that goes into everything that we do.
