This week the children have been busy learning about Chinese New Year. We learnt the Great Race story so that the children understand why each year of the Zodiac calendar is named after a particular animal. In the continuous provision they have been busy acting out the story, making lanterns and using our Chinese Restaurant role play! They have loved taking orders from their friends, cooking it and serving them. We also had a real cooking session and got to taste some sweet and sour noodles and prawn crackers!
We hope you all have a brilliant half term and well done to all the children for another half term of super learning! The books have been collected in for the holidays but you can always take part in the Winter Reading Challenge at the library.

We would love to have a regular intake of cardboard and plastic recycling to use as part of our continuous provision and ready for science week. If you have any to donate it would be greatly appreciated. Please ensure all products are clean and have not had NUT based products in them.

Tapestry is now working again. Thank you for your patience while we fixed this issue.
Our home challenge this week is for your child to write a sentence about when they were born. For example,
‘I was born in July’
If you want to extend your child further you could also link this with Chinese New Year last week and they could write a sentence about the year they were born in.
‘I was born in the year of the dog.’
We will also be looking at baby photos so we would love you to upload a baby photo of your child so that the children can guess who it is!
After half term, we will be becoming Police Detectives as one of our class toys will be going ‘missing’! So please do not worry if your child comes home talking about the Police and someone going missing – it is all part of the plan and top secret so please do not share this with them in order to maintain the excitement.
We will be engaging in role play in our very own Police Station, creating missing posters and looking for clues to solve our mystery
