We will be continuing our topic on fairy tales/traditional tales. We will be using the story maps we made for Rumplestilskin last week, to help us write the story this week. We will be encouraged to write as independently as we can using all the tools we have learnt so far.
In phonics, we will be learning the following sounds:
or /ur/ as in word
u /oo as in awful
oul /oo/ as in could
are /air/ as in share
au/aur/oor/al /or/ as in author, dinosaur, floor, walk
The tricky words we will focus on this week will be:

| Please be reminded that full school uniform is required each day. This includes black school shoes, grey school shorts/trousers/skirts/pinafores and a white polo top or school summer dress. This is also to be worn with a blue jumper, cardigan or Howbridge fleece. If you need any support with providing the above, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Please ensure long hair is tied up with suitable hair bands, no fancy alice bands or clip on hair please. |
We will be learning about money. We will start this new mathematical area by unitising through practical problem solving using pre-money counters. We will then learn to recognise coins and notes.
| In science we will be exploring the materials castles are made of and why. We will also be learning how these may have changed over time.
In PSHE we will be continuing to explore how we change from being a baby, to a toddler, to a child, to a teenager and then to an adult. In history we will be identifying the features of a castle. In mindfulness we will be learning about resilience. We will be learning through a story and games that it’s important to never give up and to always try our best. It is not the winning that counts but the effort and determination that goes into everything that we do. |
| Your child will come home with a writing sheet. There will be a picture that they can look at and write sentences about what they can see in the picture or create a short story related to the picture.
Please remind your child to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces. Please could they use a pencil to complete this homework. Thank you. |
