English

We are in Christmas mode here in year 2! We will be consolidating all of our English writing skills to retell the Christian Nativity story. We will be using time connectives, conjunctions and adjectives to make sure our re-count is exciting and full of interesting vocabulary. We will share our stories with our friends and will discuss what love about their writing.

Maths

In Maths next week we will be looking at the properties of 2d and 3d shapes. We shall be using physical shapes to explore the number of vertices, sides and curved edges. We will also be trying to identify shapes in items around the school in everyday objects such as chairs, tables and play equipment.

Topic

Next week we will be busy creating some beautiful artwork to help us celebrate winter and Christmas. We also have our Christmas Decoration Day next week which will be full of crafts and Christmas joy! We are lucky enough to be taking part in a live assembly all about an explorer in Antarctica as part of our topic which will help us to think about everything we have learnt so far in our topic ‘Around the World.’

This week in MiniMe Mindfulness with Abbey we focused on Healthy Movement through balance and yoga. We learnt that focusing on different movements and balances can help us to feel calm, relaxed and grounded.

Homework

The children will be bringing home their own maths time table challenge books. Each week we will state which ‘workouts’ and pages we would like the children to complete.

This week please complete workout 11 on pages 22 and 23. Please stick to these pages and do not rush ahead.
