As our topic ‘Around the World’ comes to an end, we are completing our next piece of independent writing all about the famous Arctic explorer, Robert Swan OBE. We joined a live broadcast all the way from Antarctica where Robert showed us around his base camp and shared lots of fascinating facts about penguins! We will be using all our English tools to create a fabulous piece of writing to display on our writing walls in class.
Thank you for all of your support with costumes and helping your children learn their lines for our Christmas performances, The Big Little Nativity. We are incredibly proud of all the children and we are sure you will agree, they did a fabulous job!

Next week we will be continuing to explore shape and their properties. We will also look at grouping shapes and creating patterns using 2d and 3d shapes to build roads, bridges and castles! We will also make sure we know how many sides and vertices some of the 3d shapes have.
Next week we will be having lots of fun celebrating all things Christmas! We are watching a special pantomime in school and sharing a Christmas lunch. We will also wear our Christmas jumpers on Thursday, ready for our class Christmas parties. The week will end with a special carol singing assembly on Friday with our friends in school.
This week in MiniMe Mindfulness with Abbey we had some Christmas fun! We focused on using our senses to become present which in turn helps us to reduce our worries and busy thoughts.
There will be no Maths homework set until January. We know and value the importance of reading for pleasure, so we would love to see you reading a Christmas story at home with your family. If you would like to send a picture of you reading to share with the class before the end of term, please send any pictures to the year 2 email howbridgeyear2@gmail.com so we can share them with the class. If you would like to borrow a Christmas story from school please speak to your class teacher.
