English

Once we have completed our free verse poems about fire, we will be completing an independent piece of writing, showing off everything we know about The Great Fire of London! We will think about what we have learnt, along with the tools we have focused on in English this half term. These include similes, speech marks and commas. We will put all of our amazing facts onto paper, making sure we are focusing on our beautiful handwriting with any horizontal and diagonal joins we have been practising too! We will then share our incredible facts with others.

Maths

We are continuing our work on multiplication and division. We will move on from our work on ‘equal groups’ and begin to think about multiplication number sentences and what the x and = symbol represent. We will think about how we can solve these number sentences in different ways and will practise checking our answers are accurate.

Topic

In History we will be learning about how The Fire Service has changed over time, since 1666. We will think about what changes have happened and why these changes have happened. We will then think about the benefits of fire equipment today and how it is much safer and more efficient than in the past!

In Computing we are going to finish our unit on ‘algorithms’. We are going to focus this week on ‘de-bugging’ which is all about sorting and fixing an algorithm that hasn’t worked correctly. For example, we will be looking at how a floor robot can avoid an obstacle or how we can amend a set of instructions to ensure they are clear and concise.

In MiniMe Mindfulness with Abbey this week, we thought about the things that we want to be/do/have and how we can build a ‘vision tower’ together. We remembered that EVERYTHING is possible and we can reach for the stars! We also thought about how we need to learn to use a ‘pause’ to help us.

Homework

This week please complete Spring Term Workout 5 on pages 34 and 35. Please only complete this workout and do not rush ahead. Thank you!
